We just got home from the Duke powwow. Besides our 3 grandchildren and Becky’s son, 2 daughters and son-in-law were several hundred of our extended family in attendance. There were 95 registered dancers and 6 drums. Members of Saponitown in attendance include, besides me and Becky, White Dove, Beeleaf, and WindDancer. There may have been others that I’m not aware of being there. It was a good day. Everybody enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of dancing and visiting with each other. The Duke Powwow committee always goes overboard with attending to the needs and comfort of the dancers. Besides being only 20 mins from our house, the setting surrounded by gothic architecture and 200 year old oaks is amazing and all around it’s an enjoyable gathering. This is their 8th year…. we have danced at the last 5.
