Jogdelog family!
I feel great for the recognition our young Sioux brothers are getting due to their viral YouTube video Roundy’s on the Road… basically Antoine Edwards, Jr. (Omaha/ Lakota) & Butchie Eastman (Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate) started recording themselves as they drove in their cars to various Powwows singing traditional & non-traditional “English” songs using Native song structure…. If you’ve seen it’s a treat… typical kids, using technology, while repping the epicenter of Native culture… love these kids!

December 21, 2014 at 7:28 pm #36773Thanks, putting that link in my favorites.
For some ndn comedy go to youtube and search “The 1491s”.
their skits, “Slapping medicine man”, “Singing lessons” and “Indian Store” had me aching from laughing.
“Indianer than you” and “I’m an Indian, too” are also hilarious.

December 21, 2014 at 7:28 pm #36779Billahuk for sharing that link BlackCoyote it was awesome! The guys look so happy in that video I think that is part of why it has gone viral.
I just learned about the 1491’s recently from seeing their now infamous sketch on Jon Stewart. I found it funny, but think some of the Washington fans missed the humor.
Don’t know how you guys feel about electronic music? I came up through the rave scene in my youth so I’m a fan. You guys should check out A Tribe Called Red from Ottawa if you are interested.
peace and love!

I about peed when he slapped the “business man” the first time and the man said, “Aho.”
One of my all-time favorite comedy bits was on the first Bob Newhart show where he is a psychiatrist. He has a patient who he has tried to help for many years. Nothing has helped. In final desperation, he screams, “STOP IT!!! Just….. STOP IT!!!! You..you know what you’re doing wrong….. just stop it.”
She looks startled, then looks like she’s seen the light. Says, “Oh…. OK” and leaves the office enlightened. Sometimes you have to get their attention before you can help them. (See my thread on “The Mule Whisperer”)
Being an old man wearing buckskin on the powwow trail, I am often approached by the general public who ask if I am a medicine man and then have various needs they wish to be fulfilled. That is a topic for another whole thread (or not;-) but I am considering adding occasional slapping to my bag of tricks >;-)

Exactly! They appear to be so happy & innocent… It’s beautiful to see the culture “just be”… just be such a normal part of existence… the songs… these kids are truly blessed…. Antoine actually produces Hip-Hop songs as well…
I used to travel w/ Deep Dish… so I learned a little about EDM, & had the opportunity to travel to Ottawa… I love Canada… blessed to have seen Alberta, Ottawa, & Montreal… I swear I could move..
I will definitely check out A Tribe Called Red… that’s a dope name…. 🙂
Peace & Love!
