A dear dear friend passed away today about 2pm.

Becky and I count Rick and his family as some of our closest friends. We met here at Saponitown and have danced and camped together for many years. It was sudden and we are devastated. Rick and his wife, Janice had just adopted 2 of their grandchildren and Rick was the family’s sole breadwinner. The family needs all our prayers and support.

Although I have been reading for some time, this is the first time I have been able to sign in in years. It felt strange to go to my page and see posts from Rick….he was more than a friend, he was my brother….we met here on Saponitown over 8 years ago…danced together for the first time at Town Creek Indian Mound…and camped together for years…all the while watching our grandchildren enter the circle and carry on our tradition of dancing and celebrating our heritage. It is hard to think it will soon be a year since his passing…but please continue to keep his wife in your prayers. She is still raising the 2 grandkids and sharing her home with her daughter and 2 other grandkids.
