SURRATT/SERRATT/SARRATT of North Carolina?

Hello everyone,

I’ve just found out that I likely descend from a Susannah Surratt of North Carolina. I’m seeing conflicting indications from various websites whether this family may have some Indigenous heritage. Has anyone come across any

suggestions that the Surratts (or other spellings) of NC come from Cherokee or any other Indigenous lineages? If anyone can pass along any pointers or help, I would be so thankful!

Susannah was likely the daughter of a Lenuel Sarratt and Nancy. Lemuel’s parents were Samuel and Frances Surratt, Samuel’s were Samuel and Anna Surratt.
