Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I received an email today originating with a lady named Crystal who is concerned about a Pine Ridge mother, Delores R. , who has a daughter, a 15 year-old that has Leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.
She has a donor, (who happens to be her brother) but is still having to travel to Omaha for testing and to get ready for the transplant. Meanwhile, the 1973 truck that mom (Delores) has been driving back and forth now has a blown head gasket and therefore it cracked the head itself, so now they have no way back and forth to Omaha.
Donations are being sought for her to be able to get another vehicle, and to help out with costs of her having to stay in town at least one night and day each trip into Omaha.
This lady is a single parent, working full time at PTI (the propane company in Pine Ridge), taking care of her sick daughter and son without child support or welfare. Crystal said when she and her husband gave Ms. R some money to help out she cried because she is a proud woman, and she doesn’t ask for charity. However, Crystal says Ms. R and her daughter have GOT TO be able to get back and forth to Omaha to continue her treatments, and for her daughter (and son) to undergo the surgery.
Her next trip to Omaha is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, so her daughter can be at the doctor’s office first thing Monday morning for further testing. If anyone is willing to donate, please call Crystal at PTI (Pourier Tiyospaye, Inc), at (605) 867-5199 or her cell (605)441-7711. This is her work number and you will be calling an office.
Linda:
Is this OUR Crystal she is talking about?
Brenda
