Jacob Indians

I have heard a cople of obscure references to people called “Jacob Indians” who lived in the NC/SC area. These references scalled them “Christian Indians” and “Jacob may have been the name of a missionary, but I might be wrong about that.

Has anyone else heard of a community in NC or SC or perhaps the border of these 2 states where a group of people called “Jacob’s Indians” lived?
