May 14, 2006 at 3:53 am #21287I have much family historical information, bibles, written letters, personal correspondence of the James, Gibson, Taylor and Freemans of southern Missouri. Included in this are Aaron and Alabeth Freeman whom I visited their unmarked, graves well, marked with concrete and colored stones last year..
The family had always thought that Alabeth’s line was Choctaw with the attempted Benight testimony….
You seem to know something about their line….are they your relatives also?

Good day.
Aaron Freeman operated a Tavern/trading house on the Yadkin ( Sapona ) River at the forks of the river if I remember correctly, I have been told he traded with the Cherokees, Catawbas, and Creeks, I really don’t know if he was of Jewish descent, but he was of Chowan Indian heritage being descended from Thomas Hoyter a headman among the Chowan Indians Bennetts Creek Reservation.
Aaron Freeman settled in Buncombe Co. N.C. and acted as a Indian agent to the Cherokees, as this was told to me by one of his descendants.
