Hopefully this will help someone. I’ve found some new information about Richard Austin ca 1700. He may have married Elizabeth Rice. Names mentioned in his will are Vernon, Joyce, Alday, Rice, David, John. Vernon and Joyce were names of Richard’s sons-in-law. I believe Peron Alday also was along with Samuel David and Thomas John.
David Rice must be a relative because he married Susannah Searcy. David’s parents were Thomas Rice and Mary/Marcy King. Thomas’ parents were either Edward Rice and Mary Claiborne or Edmund Rice and Thomasine Frost. The names Heard and Poole are also connected to the name Rice.
Peron/Perrin Alday/Allday’s parents were John and Elizabeth Perrin Alday. Elizabeth was the daughter of Richard and Anne Porter Perrin of Henrico. Richard’s parents were Thomas Perrin and Katherine Royall. Ann Porter’s parents were Robert Porter and Elizabeth Cox.
Perrin Alday was an Overseer for Richard Ward’s property in Lunenburg.

What was the source of Richard Austin’s Will info?

February 28, 2006 at 9:15 pm #19651Hi Bill. It appears that the source is a book of “Early Wills 1746-1765 Lunenburg County Virginia” compiled by Katherine B Elliott South Hill, Virginia page 74-75 John Austin Will Book 1 page 308. Also, same source is the will of Richard Austin pp 69-70.
A John Austin Sr. Biography “Southside Virginia Austins” by Janet Curtis “The Virginia Genealogist” October 1961, 147-54 quote: “The origen of this family is unknown but its members were closely associated with the Terry family of Halifax and Pittsylvania counties which came from Hanover and New Kent counties……John Austin was born probably between 1680-1700. He first appears in the records in 1740 when he and a Richard Austin asked the Brunswick County Court to add them to the list of titheables. In 1749 John Austin Sr. was Constable of Lunenburg So., VA.”
Richard Austin’s will was recorded Dec. 4, 1759.

February 28, 2006 at 9:15 pm #19691Bill, I saw that a Robert and a George Austin were listed as Indian Traders. I have no idea if they relate to Richard Austin. I have seen posts that show Richard’s father as Robert Austin.
