The Cherokee word for the Big Sandy River was Chatterawha. Does anyone know the Cherokee meaning of this word?

it translated as “River of Sandbars”.
From what I’ve learned, I’ll bet that “spelling” came from what people thought they heard. The phrase might have been more like Tsa-te-ra-ha.
