I am looking for a man born ca. 1700 and who became part of the Green, Sizemore, Hart,and Griffin families on Great Buffalo Creek in present Mecklenburg County VA. His name was William Jackson but there is also a reference to him being called “Chief Bear Hart.”
I know that there were Harts in the Catawba Nation and there is a rumor of the Sizemores possibly having a Catawba connection. I don’t think this is backed up by documented facts.
Anyone know anything about Chief Bear Hart?

Howdy…just a little ditty I wanted to pass along re: the Sizemore’s….in speaking with Richard Carlson…he, on a few occasions, mentioned to me that he believed the Sizemore’s to be predominantly Nansemond by way of tribal affiliation….that said…perhaps that might be worth looking into…I have just a few Sizemore’s that MD into my tree and have not studied them well at all.
