Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Found this and thought it might ring somebody’s bell:

Has some old photographs. This family seems to have gone to KY, Alabama, Mississippi, and SC, with a few staying in VA. In VA, they lived in several counties (Orange, Brunswick, Surry, etc.).
The pdf file for “descendants of John Collins I” has a very detailed 1778 Army experience (of Josiah Collins who went from Halifax, VA to KY), complete with taking scalps. Also includes wills and such. Many familiar names, but that may just reflect the frequency with which the same names were used. Quite a few familiar surnames.
Not vouching for accuracy, just tossing it out there.
Also has some military stuff on Elisha Collins from Halifax, VA, who had a son named Meredith, b. March 13, 1789 in Boones Station KY.
Hi Bee:
Just wanted to say hello and hope you can respond to my recent post regarding Sawra Town and the Sawra Tribe. You’re so helpful. I’ve finally found some time to do further research and it keeps leading back to Orange Co. near where the Sawras lived.
Good day to you.
