Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
It has been a while since I’ve been on here. There is another member Scott Collins that showed up in my GEDmatch as well as several other Collins. I do not know how Collins fits into the my tree. Anyone hear from Scott, tell him to hollar at me.
Other names showing up in GEDmatch are Bunch, Tow, Jeffries, Bass, Williams, Brown, Turner, Taylor, Parker, Bailey, Cotton, Stone, Bennett, Boone, Anderson, Strickland, Smith, Benton, Graham, Sanders, Saunders, King, Clark, Bell, Ball, Ferguson, Thompson, Brasswell, Boswell, Moore, Powell, Cook, Colbert, Gibson, Harmon, Majors, Osbourne, Jones, Sawyer, Robinson, Flood, Robbins/Robins, Pitman, Beaver, Bird/Byrd, Lee, Cobb, Mitchell, Miller, Vick etc.
I matched some DNA with Shoshone of the Pee Dee, who is also Chowanoke through the Bennett, another cousin of her’s I matched and had a lot of DNA matches, he also matches Collins I think. Chief Brown of the Cheroenhaka is a cousin through the Vick family according to my cousin who was a former clan mother of the SB of Tuscarora. Both my grandparents descend through the Strickland. 🙂
My King family were residents of Indian Woods and were well acquainted with the Blount, Pugh, Williams, Thompson, Whitmel, etc. My Moore family were also there. Looks like my Bennett were Chowanoke. Still researching Meadows, Stone, Cook, Huntley/Hundley, Ashcraft/Ashcroft and Oholobamah for possible ties to Saponi and or Chickasaw. If you want to try a match, my kit# is M447469, don’t forget to lower the threshold for distant cousin matches.

I sent Scott a message with your GedMatch and email.
