I FINALLY retrieved my maternal grandmother’s birth certificate. She did not raise my mother, so I knew little of her. Her name was Dollie Smith but married a Thompson before she died in 1972. Her father’s name was Nathaniel Smith, Jr. and her mother’s name was Louisa Moore.
Therefore, I am related to Smiths and Moores in the Mecklenburg County, VA and surrounding areas. A very good feeling.
In the near futher I will order their death certificates and so on.
Hey Erica, nice to see you around. Hope you’ve been well. Did you see the Ancestry.com show about Emmet Smith? He had ancestors from Mecklenburg — some of them white Puryear’s. I know some white Moore’s hereabouts, so that show came to mind.
