Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Hi, My name is Jack. I come from the Helton family that were on the Dan river area, Modern Stokes county NC. Our family put in over 500 Cherokee appications but were never enrolled. Our family has a Pure Male native American strain of DNA.. Our Oldest ancestor Tom is buried looking due east of Saura Town mountain. Does anyone have any ideas for help how to solve this mystery that some Sauras did NOT leave Sauratown and just married into white families?? Any direction anyone could give would be Hugely appreciated!!!
Here is link to our dna site

I think you have your proof with 500 Cherokee applications. Have you read them? They are likely a treasure trove of information. Those documents can form the basis for a good case as to what happened to a good chunk of Saura (Cheraw) descendants. You already know the story. It’s staring you in the face.
