I wanted to find some info on the Glover Family from Wilson and Edgecombe Counties. Most of my Glovers live in Saratoga, but I have uncles and aunts in surrounding counties. I don’t have much at the moment, but my Grandmother is in Wilson collecting information for me. I just wanted to get this thread started in hopes that some info might be available.
Here is what I have at the moment:
My grandmother: Nellie Gray Glover; July 1, 1936; Wilson Co?
Nell’s father: Jimmy Jackson Glover; Jan 28, 1907; Edgecombe?
Nell’s mother: Ada Mazzie Hopkins; July 22, 1905; Loc? –They had 11 kids.
Anyone recognize the surnames. Hopefully we can trace them and find out what this “Indian” ID is…. Usually this indicates multiple tribal origins.
Thanks!!!!:D

April 20, 2006 at 2:39 pm #20435Oh…. I didn’t catch that they are from Nash Co. The Haliwas also have many members there. I’m glad you have access to all of this info, and that you share it– Thanks!
April 20, 2006 at 2:39 pm #20441David,
My grandmother was from Nash County too 🙂 Also what’s the Gray in Nellie’s name? I wonder if it’s from the Gray family. I descend from the Grays too they lived just south about 5-7 miles from the southern boundaries of the Nottoway Rez in Southampton. Many moved down into NC and some stayed in Va. If you are a Gray too now that would be cool! Plus some Nottoway connection are in this family too. Your know David this is getting wild LOL………you gotta find out about that Gray thing. If so I’ll introduce ya to Lone Wolf on this forum he’s one of my Gray cousins. If you see Pridgen, Etheridge, Ruffin, Moore any of these names show up I can share bunches more with you. There are Ruffin that married into ndns and Moores and Etheridges who did too. If you see Sessums, Price, Robbins, Sizemore, Boon, Van Pelt, Smith then you and I need to talk about Bertie County and Southampton County seriously. If you see Rogers then start screaming loud enough for me to hear ya from Live Oak LOL If you find these names then we shall seriously speak of the Tar River thingie LOL Find out the Jackson in your great grandfathers name too.

April 20, 2006 at 2:39 pm #20491Will do Linda! I’m not sure where the Gray in my grandma’s name came from. I’ll find out. She should be back by this weekend and should hopefully have more info for me from Saratoga. I’ll keep my eyes open for those surnames…. Im so glad we met on here Cousin. Talk soon!

April 20, 2006 at 2:39 pm #20957Well, my grandma is back from Wilson Co, and she wasn’t able to find a whole lot.
The glovers have been in Nash CO for a while now, but it is unclear how long. They are found in the towns of Bailey, Nashville, and Red Oak. In Wilson CO they live in Saratoga. The Glovers have native ancestry, and it is clearly seen in several of my Aunts and Uncles. The question is where does it come from?
My g-grandfather’ (Jimmy Glover) parents were Franklin Rubin Glover (born 9/8/1878; died 5/1/1956) and Olivia Adler Fischer (or Fisher) (born 3/13/1876 and died 3/21/1966). Unfortunately we don’t have more info on the Glover side. Olivia’s parents were W.C. Fischer (born 8/18/1851) and Sally Eliza Price (born 6/6/1862).
Other surnames include Skinner and Webb and others I’m still looking for. I wish that they had kept better records! Hopefully Bill can help.
David:D 😀
