I was a member many years ago before we moved into town. I am now retired and back into my genealogical research and have been doing atdna research for about 18 months. There are now ‘archaic” profiles available to those of us who have done the atdna testing online and there now the ability to see if a person carries the Clovis Montana DNA which is the only DNA not found on any continent than North and South America. We have built a fairly large database and are starting to try to recognize and build our families which can be supported by the DNA evidence. This is not YDNA but Atdna. I have way more questions than answers. If anyone has done testing, I would love to add them to the database. I have a lot of reading to do here and will begin with some of the names that we know that we can document. I have done traditional genealogy for 45 years. I think that the posts fit in the Genealogical section but if not, just let me know.
I no longer have that website and do not know how to change it.
I have two sites and am not as dedicated as I could be but spend too much time researching instead of updating.
Blog
Website and does have some original docs and resources

I’ve been reading some of your old Quaker threads lately. Hope we can figure out some more detail of these Quaker-Blackfoot connections.
Are your Cottrell’s descended from Andrew Cottrell 1710 Prince George VA -1813 Frederick MD?

May 21, 2015 at 10:49 pm #37422I don’t have proof positive but we are Ydna matches to him. His kids seem well documented so I have to wonder if my line is his brother Samuel. He either went to live with “the Indians” or was taken by him. They raided his home but he was not there. The story was told by the Westfalls and my Thomas in Ohio married Elizabeth Westfall so definitely the same area. I am a little on the fence about Andrew and the Nancy Moore scenerio. His heirs had a land transaction after he died and it describes the land as bordering on Nancy Moor’s land. Seems to me if that is his mother or wife then she would be a Cottrell and I don’t think there is any proof of her having children but I am very confused about the Moore name. Elizabeth Westfall line goes John Westfall/Mary Polly Allison> James/Ann Truby> George/ Elizabeth Reeves and Ann Truby is a John Truby/Esther Westfall
George Westfall and Esther seem to have been brother and sister so I have a double>Jacob Westfall/Judith Hornbeck, Recently I have been getting a lot of Cool/Kool Atdna matches so I have now be wondering if Jurian the Immigrant (Marretje Hanson ) may have had another wife as all that I can find id’s for show Clovis Dna. I am pretty sure that this group may have admixed early.
My gap is Thomas 1780 married Sarah Yates in Greene Co Ohio 1803. I have seem some genealogies giving him parents but I have not been able to prove them either positive or negative. Thomas signs this doc
From “Greene Co., Common Pleas Minutes, 1808-1813”:
9-30-1813 – Will of Jonathan Westfall proven by oath of Joel Westfall and Thomas Cottrell. Samuel D. Kirkpatrick, executor
These Kirkpatrick are definitely Pa people and they took Andrew back to Pa to bury him when he was killed by Simpson, so I think the ties are from Md/Va to Pa and then down into Hacker’s Valley. This gap is also where Andrew is believed to have a Native American wife so….
