There seems to have been some improvement in the 1777 edition of this map, showing which streams had dry crossings (bridges). This is being studied by Tom Magnuson of Hillsborough NC, who is one of the Trading Path Association folks.

We have been on Tom’s Walks and explored Hillsborough trading paths. And he has even discovered an old path in our neck of the woods in Person county. This is also a good way to find the old cemeteries as well.
