I upgraded to the latest version today, so everybody help me figure out the new bells and whistles. Notice the links under “Community” We’ve got an album we can use, don’t know what we’re supposed to do with the ‘social groups.” And there’s a Calendar we can use for pow wow dates, etc.
I looked for exactly five minutes and found this free template. It’s perfect. That’s exactly what the Meherrin looks like at the foot of the Fort Christanna site. We sit on the rocks there and sing Tutelo songs. Spilledi sang some Northwest coast songs there, and Mrs. Patino was there with her hubby and son and left some prayer ties. Of course, this is Fights Like a Bear’s haunt, if I can use that word. . . Wonderful place. Hope more of you can make the pilgrimage one day.

Social networking sites include facebook (I now know more about my son’s life from his facebook page than I knew before.), myspace, twitter.com, going.com, skype.com, google docs, etc. I took out a facebook page, found a high school classmate of mine, who, get this – had a picture of me being handed my high school diploma from 36 years ago! We exchange photos, chat, and recall high school.
Looks great. I like the soft greenish shades.

This is my second visit to the new version. It looked really neat the first visit. Then I left, surfed a bit, came back. Now all I see is a drab gray background. The soft greenish disappeared.
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33252Yes, I’m messing around with the stylesheet, trying to get the margins a little wider. Not working by the logic I’m accustomed to.
Some of our little buttons are missing, too.

Ah, that explains it. I was hoping it wasn’t my computer.
One button I found useful is in the “user profile” section. I liked to push the “view all posts by DAJ42” button, especially if we shared some common surnames. I was disappointed that the button was gone…until I pressed the “show all statistics” button in the user profile page. Then various things, including the “show all posts” button, showed up.
Just a wee bit of poking around and some of the buttons might reappear.
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33254Linda, I think it is wonderful. Thank you for your hard work to do this. Many Blessings for you and this site and all members~~Greydove~:D
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33255Maybe we could have an album for old family pictures, one for Collins pics, one for Richeys, or whatever. Having a visual on our many racially mixed families in one place would be neat. Right now I gotto search all over to find pics

February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33259I like the new look too. 🙂
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33262Hey Linda….thanks so much for the upgrade…I really like the look. I noticed it yesterday and was so excited about the new calendar that I spent the afternoon adding all the pow wows that are listed on the thread. Now all anyone will have to do is to scroll over the dates to see what is going on. Then, they can click on them for some information, and the rest of the information, directions, etc. will still be on the events thread.
Aho

Linda, when the site loaded, I thought the very same thing:)
I haven’t been doing too much research lately, trying to get ready for May graduation, I am really going to try to make it down.
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33266Great job, Becky. And good ideas, Spilledi about the albums. My favorite part is that I have not received a single spam registration and I can spend my Saponitown time at Saponitown, instead of weeding through 30-odd registrations every day. Halleluja
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33267Thanks, Linda….I agree that a pilgrimage to the Fort can be an experience…will never forget the day that Ken and I spent up there with Bee and the sisters….still remember hearing Bee’s flute song…..floating on the wind.
February 4, 2009 at 1:46 am #33270I’ll second all the good replies. This is nice. I thought my computer was having problems at first. Then, in only a matter of half second, I realized that this is nice.
You HAVE really worked very hard to help us have a nice place to visit and do our research. Thanks, Bob.
