Hello gang. I wasn’t sure where to put this thread, but since these are historical pictures I thought I’d put it here.
This is a site that I found by accident last week or so. It has hundreds and hundreds of old pictures of the peoples of the Cayuse, Walla Walla, and Umatilla Tribes. It’s from the University of Oregon. I’ve lived here in Oregon since 1961 and I never knew they had this treasure.
I thought I’d pass it along so y’all can enjoy them too. I know, they are totally on the opposite coast than the Saponi, but they are beautiful to look at anyway. 🙂

Thanks for posting the link for the Moorhouse pictures. Theres also a big picture book out with a lot of his Umatilla county Indian and Round-Up photos, if I can ever save up for it I’ll get it. Many of his photos might have been staged, but the descendents of his subjects now have some fine photos of their ancestors in traditional outfits. If only someone like him 200 years ago had gone out and made so many sketchs of our Virginia and North carolina Indian ancestors!
