Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA

I was out and about looking through web stuff as the Ladies of the house are on a Girl Scout Trip! I found the above referenced webpage. I don’t know much about the organization but looked like a good read. I thought of my wifes family from Kentucky. Papaw was Shawnee, Cherokee, probably Melungeon. My wifes sister has studied the Melungeon connection. She also swears Papaw told her he was Sak. I still think he told her Shawn ee. Yeah I know how do you get a 2 syllable word out of a 1 syllable word? Well he was like 90+ and whispered it softly. I just have trouble with a huge eastern Kentucky migration for Plains dwelling people. Her name was Mahala Vanover later she changed it to Charlotta. Mahala was a midwife in the Appalachia of Kentucky. My youngest daughter is named after her.
Anyway GoodNightNow. I’ve to go to work tomorrow,

I hope posting to myself is cool. I get on an ancestor kick every now and again. I found this and hope it’s not redundant to other info shared but if so….
