Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I’m looking for information on my Jeffers/Jeffries/Jeffreys family in Kentucky.
Moses Jeffries born 1740 married Sarah Austin born 1744 both born in Nelson, Ky
Sarah Jane Jeffries born 1766 in Ky married Hannaniah Lincoln born 1756 in Pa
I also read where the name Jefferson was interchangeable with Jeffers/Jeffries. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

It does seem that Jeffers is a variant of Jeffries – have also seen Jeffress.
One of the places I was looking at is the Green’s Fork Cemetery in Wayne County Indiana. There are both Jeffries and Jeffers that rest there.
Trying to see if this specific Jeffries lines are Saponi descendants, and if they are related to the Indian Jeffries who were cabinet-makers – but can’t find anyone whose tree isn’t brickwalled at Jacob Jeffers b 1832-1835 OH/IN – 1882 Marion IN.
Did find pictures of Jacob’s wife, Mary Jane McCoy/Beaver and son Marshall Jeffers…
