I had a call from a lady in Michigan, that said we are more than likly related. She is Blackfoot Saponi. We have exchanged photos, and it sure looks like a lot of the family traits.
Somehow from my 3rd great gr’mother Rebecca Morning/Mourning Starr, she is related.
I came across some information that a cousin sent me a while ago. She talked about how “Mornings mother or grandmother was kidnapped and married an Indian”. I never thought anything about that till I was contacted.
From what is told, Jennie Wiley Irish/English was kidnapped in Virginia (dont know if its in WV) whilest her husband went to trade. Her children were killed along with ether her sister in law or brother in law.
They ended up in Kentucky. She was married to a cheif? or just another Indian. She had 2 sons, and was there for about 3 yrs till she escaped and followed the river and went back to husband.
My 3rd great gr’mother, respectively, is off of one of them sons, from lower Ohio.
She said her grandmother told them that, it was not wrote down because she could not write. Nether could my 3rd great grandmother.
She is off that same line from one of the two boys.
I would like to think I have hit ground after 34 yrs of searching. I feel like Windwalker sometimes…..searching.
Now, maybe everything is not correct. But, I sure would like to think so.
Is there anyone else related to her or could exchange some info with me? This is the “First” big break I have had in many many years. I am excited and would like to think “YEA”.
March 29, 2010 at 4:33 pm #36895Wondering if Jennie Wiley and Morning Starr are connected to ancestors of mine.
I’m brick-walled at my ancestor Benjamin Brower b.1817 Ohio. He married four times judging by records. His last wife was Isabell Buck b.1823 OH. They married when they were in their 50s/60s. Isabell’s name was Buck from marriage – her maiden name was Wiley. Her mother’s name was Morning Wiley b. 1795 VA. The only source I’ve found for her is the 1860 census, she was living in Darke Co OH. Her father is Samuel Wiley 1783 PA – 1838 IN.
Wondering if the Jennie Wiley mentioned here is the one born about 1796 in Walter’s Creek, Wythe Co VA married to Richard Williamson 11 Oct 1810 in Floyd Co KY?
The oral history in our family is that one of the ancestors from Morning Wiley’s generation was full-blood. Not certain if it is Benjamin Brower’s parents or one of his wive’s parents. Judging by pictures, names and locations Isabell Buck and/or her first husband Theron Buck were Tutelo.

well abductions in that time frame and among natives is way too common place.. and you might want to consider that maybe your abduction story is a blurry truth passed down ..
yes my direct maternal line is also a Starr family. but before it was a Starr is a Barker/ old bark and maybe a Clyne or Cliny .
but here is some abductions that I know about in that whole family group. these are the ones I know about.
De Soto abducts Lady Yollie “aka lady Cofita-chiqui aka in the old world as the remnants of Caphtor , she is Saponi or Catawba and Alle-gewi many years before that I think. and that is where that ” title ” Yolik” , ” ollie” , Yollie (sp?) comes from.. this is Biblical lands and city states of Elishah aka Alashiya and more spellings and city states around the world . see Tamahu also for tatoo’d and two feathered , loincloth and blanket wearing big fellas / aka “giants”.
DeSoto drops her either in chickasaw or maybe natchez territory / maybe around Coosa river ( but I don’t think it was called that then ) / then later it became Cherokee territory. this is the 1500’s .
1600’s there is no records and I don’t remember anything either.
early 1700’s
many generations later Ollie Nionees from ^^^ grandmother mother had become a cherokee in the missing years of wars and adductions. and who can guess how many of those . . ( red paint lady) who is married to Oconostota is pregnant and abducted and taken near NY. they are called Kanastoga / Conostoga/ Andaste / Mingo’s etc there.. Red paint lady ( sorry I forgot her name , maybe she is called Peggy, but we have boat loads of Peggy’s in the family ) ? she has a few children there when with that tribe and One is Chief Logan .. so he is Ollie’s brother and maybe some half brothers and some half sisters are there too . We think Ollie also has a full sister and brother Turtle ? but don’t know if he is half or full that they were cherokee from Oconostota and in the cherokee nation…. and maybe full sister( lady who married Barker/ Old Bark) born around 1720-30’s or something like that . that is who I was told was my line.. it should be my line. but now the only way to prove it is Yohlik nal has to come back as U5b or a variation which is between haplogroup B and U5. there has already been some of these found in Mexico and in cherokee. but we have to find more proof that B comes from U5 or (u5b?maybe ) . but truth is they don’t even know why those genes mutate..
now too Chief Logan remember his direct ggg??? grandma is lady Cofitachiqui a catawba saponi blackfoot etc.. .
Paxton Boys – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and then yellow creek..
http://www.frontierfolk.net/ramsha_research/chieflogan.html
late 1700/early 1800’s
There is a child of Logans sister that is missing (Ollie half sister ) who died .. the was child abducted who was given to her father( and forgot his name but I think he is white ) to raise after the Yellow creek massacre. and Logan goes on raid after raid probably trying to find his sisters child.
really they left him no other options he being the oldest male in that clan. and they had already killed everyone else in the family . then in a few more years whoever is left in with the cherokee anyway is pretty much wiped out or drove off with the treaty party who really is trying to make peace work. because they were the ones who had been fighting in the wars and fighting with in the confines of diplomacy and neither had worked.. and it only got them all dead.
Shoeboots born 1750’s
Shoeboots first wife may have been some kind of adduction also ( as best I can remember ) . check out Barnard and Mary and a certain Raven story.. that story is in the family someplace for sure , for sure, for sure , but I am sorry I forget who Raven is..
but Shoeboots first wife she might be white or half blood native and her father is the white Governor Henry ‘hair’ Hamilton. I can’t find anything for sure about Hamilton having a first family or any family before the age of 70.. and you know for sure he is doing something with someone before the age of 70..:p so no white lady or church records of him being married before the age of 70.. so it was probably a native lady mother is what I think now..
Shoeboots second wife is a white girl.. and abduction and it is very famous story ..Clarinda Ellington… she had two sons and one daughter. and she is white and she goes back to her family after about 10 years or so..
His last wife is a “slave” her grandma was abducted during the tuscarora wars ( early 1700’s ) I think. and sold into slavery . something like that.
1800’s
Shoeboots granddaughter is abducted in Indian territory mid 1800’s ..
other names which might be connected to family with the words like abductions ,
See or SEA , and ice or snow
could be in the family group someplace. some kind of story was told about these names.. but I forgot somethings..
these people all known as cherokee but with saponi/catawba/ blackfoot and Attakullkulla had chickasaw / Algonquin and shawnee .. roots.. with blood and family connections in every tribe in 6 nations.
and if no one had guessed yet Attakullakulla is Cornstock who was murder under a flag of truce .. I am very very very sure of that but can’t prove it . read about Cornstock and Tecumpsey for more abduction stories blurry with hints of cherokee connections…
so someplace in that mess your Starr family might be connected to some of those adductions. and it might all be on that Starr family line.. and Wiley line.
and so maybe the Wiley may or may not be the abduction or there was lots of them and these stories they all kind of blurred into one princess story. for years that is how I remember it 😮 . just one very blurry ‘princess’ and indian kings and queens story with ponies and big black feet .... but I think I got it sorted out pretty close..maybe not perfect.. but as perfect as I can from what I remember was told .
March 29, 2010 at 4:33 pm #37214I was able to track down another descendant of Isabell Wiley/Wylie and Theron Buck. The oral history in her family also states that this line are mixed-bloods. In my family this line marries into the Smith/Jones lines then later Potter lines. In other families that share these ancestors some of the names they marry in are Nash, Stroker, Walls, Foble, Lowe, Gast. Most are in Indiana, but some generations moved back to Ohio – in particular Fort Recovery in Mercer County.
