February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13889Sue, can you provide a link to this website? Is this William Jenkins thought of as Saponi? KKK are liable to do anything. Wouldn’t put anything past them.

February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13896My Mom and I were having an email conversation about the Klan the day this was first posted….just a little weird for me, it’s not like they’re a common topic of conversation, ya know?
I saw them demonstrating a couple of times as a kid. Scarey stuff.
February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13897Sue,
Hey, that’s kind of spooky. But while I was there in GA I went on a search for my Elizabeth Miller. I have a lot of stuff to go through now. Not sure if I found anything good, but I got some stuff to maybe go from. 😉 Thank you for the link! Love & Light, Lynella.
February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13898I recall reading once when grayhound busses crossed the Red River and went into Texas, that the bus driver would stop the bus, carry a baseball bat with him, and put up a sign with a chain in the rear of the bus saying “Colored only” Any Blacks on the bus were to sit in the rear. I don’t know if they made Indians go to the back of the bus as it never came up. Enforcing that rule was what the baseball bat was for. I believe that was Texas law up until the 1950s at the latest.

Man, that is just SO WRONG! It’s hiddeous the way folks did and some still do treat one another. I’m glad it’s not as bad as it used to be. It’s just WRONG, I tell you! Love & Light, Lynella.
February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13923What I find even more sickening than that letter is the
fact that they still have annual rallys here in Indiana.
Right in front of the court houses, and hundreds show up.
They call in extra police from around to watch over the
procedings. At least they did a couple years ago, havent
really tried to keep up with if its still going on.:(
February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #13926Yep, it blows!
February 28, 2005 at 3:30 pm #14705I’ve heard that in the mid-20’s,Klan organizations had 5 million members. That represented 1/8 of US white male population. If one 2x or 3x that number to account for sympathizers, the Klan’s “ideals” were once mainstream. That’s the scary part!I never want them to ever again have that much power!
I’ve heard that in 1958,the “coloreds”,in this case,Lumbee Indians,routed the
KKK in Robeson County,NC.Anyone have any more information on this confrontation?
