O.K.,here we go again.I have been so miss informed and mislead with alot of internet information.Sorry everyone.I guess this could be why I never found anything.Anyway, here it goes again and I hope someone can help me fill in the blanks.I think I stated before that I had got in touch with John Perkins Granddaughter and my second cousin,Goldie Critchfield that live in Charleston,WV.She told me John died in Huntington,WV at a hospital sometime in 1930’s.Well,I finally found him….John Edward Perkins Born Dec.22 1870 in “Ohio”.Father listed as James Perkins, born Lawrence County,Ohio.Mother Mellissa Tucker, born in Jackson County,Ohio.John Edward Perkins died March 17,1935 at St.Mary’s Hospital.Cabell County,Huntington,West Virginia.Died of Acute Heart Failure.Information was provided by “Mrs.J.E.Perkins.Can anyone add anything to this family of Perkins?Would they be considered Cherokee or listed with Carmel Indians?I know someone mentioned before the Perkins from Ohio were probably Carmel or Pamunkey?

December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #17992Thank you so much Bill. I wonder where James parents were from in WV?If it was actually WV or on the border line of Ohio and WV?At least now I am getting some where. Is there anyway we could check marriage records to see who James Parents were,or did they require that info.back then? Thanks again,
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #17993Just FYI, Mecklenburg County, VA has Tuckers with a family tradition of Indian descent. Richard Haithcock considers it a surname found among Saponi families.
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #17994O.K.,thanks Linda, will be checking on this also.I really am wondering now. This is great.
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18052It said John Perkins was married twice.I do not see Effie listed anywhere, nor Pearl and Ada Leigh Perkins.I am wondering if John and Effie were ever married at all.maybe Pearl and Ada carried the last name Perkins, but John and Effie were not married?Wondering where Effie comes in at .I still can’t find anything for her.Hmmm…
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18055Who are Effie, Pearl & Ada in relation to John E. ?
I didn’t see any mention of them in your post.
Bill
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18069Effie suppsedly John ‘s wife.Pearl and Ada are they’re daughters.pearl was married twice.Once to Arch Thompson. He was shot and killed in Prenter,WV in 1929.Death was listed as R.A.Thompson.She then married Bill Steve, who was born May 29,1925.Died Oct.16,2000.Pearl was listed as Pearl Steve born May 9,1900.Died april 1983,Nellis,Boone County,West Virginia. They said pearl was actually born in Va.and she was older than what they have listed at death.Ada was the other daughter,my Grandmother.Ada L.Perkins born April 1908,Eureka,West Virginia,McDowell County West Virginia.Died Oct.21,1956 .Died at Grace Hospital in Welch,West Virginia.Buried at Big Creek ,West Virginia,McDowell County.Ada was married to Ernest Joseph Senter.Ernest Joseph Senter was born Barren Springs,Va.June 9,1901.Died May 5,1968,McDowell County,War West Virginia.Buried also at Big Creek,McDowell County West Virginia.Goldie is the daughter of Pearl.Goldie Thompson was married to Quincy Lawrence,he died. She married second,Clifford J.Critchfield.Clifford was born April 5,1932,Died Dec.27,2002Charleston,Kanawha,West Virginia. This is what I have on them and what I have been going by.I recently located Goldie Critchfield and she told me what she knew.Thank you,
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18089Either the John E. Perkins on that Death Cert. is not your John Perkins, or Effie, Pearl and Ada were referred to by different first names, which is unlikely for all three of them.
I located Pearl and dau Goldie on the 1930 Boone Co census and Ernest & Ada Senter on the 1930 McDowell census.
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18091Who all was listed on Pearl and Goldie’s census?Effie may have had another name as well.Goldie said Pearl took care of Effy while she was sick, maybe she is with them. She also stated Effie died in Boone County.Sorry,Bill.This is all the info.I have. And you are right again,it may be the wrong John Perkins. This is why I am still looking.I have hit so many brickwalls in the past.I am not jumping the first one I think is close,LOL.Thanks again,
December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18092Hmmm,just wondering.Goldi was born 1924,she said Effie died when she was small.Maybe late 1920’s early 1930’s???But she did remember Effy well, and John. And they lived in Boone County when Effie died.John died in Huntington.Ans the last name Lucas was mentioned several times.Maybe They were not married at all???

December 5, 2005 at 1:50 am #18131Also,it seems here that pearl is saying both parents and herself were born in Va.Ada is saying John was born in WV and Effie is born in Va.Ada is also born in WV.It is confusing, lol.
