Hi Everyone!
My name is Lyn, I am Starr’s cousin. I came to add to the Cornwell confusion. My Grandfather is Edward Deane Cornwell b 1906 Magoffin County, KY. d 3/30/86 in Boyd County, KY. He is the son of Grant Cornwell (brother of Starr’s G Grandfather, Boyd) & Lucinda Collins Cornwell (sister of Starr’s G Grandmother America). Grant died in 1912 in Breathitt County, KY, he married Lucinda on 5/16/1900 in Magoffin County, KY, with Boyd & Thomas Cornwell as witness’. Lucinda has gone ‘poof’ and vanished into thin air. We find people that we think may be her, but there is zero connection to anyone we know, which rules them out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Starr & I are going to pull our hair out…LOL
February 1, 2009 at 1:45 am #33277Hi Lyn-Dancing Fawn!
I’ve been looking at all of this. In the Spring Fork, Breathitt co Ky census 1910 are Grant and Cinda and your ED 6, Lewis 3 and a sam 3/12 right? Lewis is in Magoffin co in the 1930 census. Found an obit of one of his sons Garland in Harlin co Ohio that says GArland was born in Magoffin co Ky 1937. So lewis moved to ohio after that. Can’t find anyone in the 1920 census. So where is your Ed in 1920? Anyway, I have found a death date on Cinda Cornwell of 6-17-1918 in Magoffin co. If Grant died in 1912 and she in 1918, that may be the end of records on her. This was in obits listed for 1900-1925 and it also listed Clarinda Cornwell as age 62 died 7-4-1914. Oh, Cinda’s age was 30 which is about right if approximated. Think this is her? Saj
February 1, 2009 at 1:45 am #33278Hey! Yes, that is Lucinda. She apparently passed away of a lung hemorage (?). I spoke to a lady by the Laurie who had the information. Uncle Lewis did move to Ohio, he was in Kenton until he passed away. Ed aka Pap-paw in 1920 was at Caney Creek school in Knott County. Caney Creek was a settlement school aka ‘civilize the indian children school’….=(!!!! I am having a hard time digesting all of this. I, of course know how horrible things were for our ancestors, but the thought that it happened to my immediate family has been a bit of a hard pill to swallow!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your help.
Lyn
