Little Dove,
Welcome to the Forum,
Here are your Dad’s parents and siblings per the 1910 Census:
1910
Putnam Co., Ind Census – Dist. 99 Franklin Twp, Roachdale (Town)
26 April – Sheet 5B, visit 47:
DICKERSON, Marion A.; Farm Work, male, White, 40, marr’d 1 time, marr’d for 17 years, born Indiana; father b. Va; mother b.Va.
………………, Eliza; Wife, female, W, 40, m’d1, 17 yrs, Ind, Va, Va.

from Putnam Co., Ind Marriage Records; Book 8, p.537:
Marion A. Dickerson m’d Sarah E. G. Beckleheimer on 2 Feb 1893.
………………………………………………………………………………….
1900
Putnam Co., Ind Census – Dist 74 Franklin Twp; Roachdale (Town)
1 June; sheet 2 A, visit 31:
BECKLEHEIMER, John; Head; W,m, Oct 1831, 68, m’d 49 yrs,
Va, Va, Va. Day Laborer.
……………………, Elizabeth J.; wife, W, f, May 1834, 66, m’d 49 yrs,
Va, Va, Va.
DICKERSON, Marion A.; Day Lab’r, W,m, Jun 1870, 29, m’d 7 yrs,
Ind, Va, NC.
………………., Sarah E.; wife, W,f, Sept 1869, 30, m’d 7, Ind,Va,Va.
………………., John W.; son, W,m, Mar 1894, 6, Ind, Ind, Ind.
………………., Elizabeth L.; dau, W,f, Aug 1896, 3; Ind,Ind,Ind.
………………., Harry D.; son, W, m, Nov 1898, 1; Ind, Ind, Ind.
The census listing indicates that the Dickersons lived in the same residence as the Beckleheimers.
Marion, Sarah and their children were originally listed as their relationships to the “Head of Household” John Beckleheimer but that was overwritten with their relationship to Marion Dickerson, i.e., wife, son, daughter, instead of Marion originally shown as “son-in-law”, Sarah shown as “daughter”, John W. shown as “Grandson”, etc., so the Beckleheimers are Sarah E.’s parents and the “E.” is for “Eliza” or “Elizabeth”.

Montgomery Co., Ind Census – Clark Twp, 18 July; P.O.: Ladoga, Ind., p. 34, visit 268:
DICKERSON, William J.; 45, m, W, Blacksmith, $150 R.E., $250 Pers. Prop.; Va.
………………., Cyntha L.; 24, f, W, NC.
………………., William J.; 14, m, W, Ky.
………………., Robert A.; 12, m, W, Ky.
………………., Benjamin F.; 3, m, W, Ind.
from Montgomery Co., Ind Marr. Records; Book 6, p.562:
William J. Dickerson m’d Tempy L. Floyd on 14 Feb 1867.
(Cyntha or Cynthia is probably her name with Tempy being a nickname would be my guess, but I think that Cyntha L. and Tempy L. are the same person.)
This is William J.’s second wife, with William J. (Jr) and Robert A. being the children of a 1st wife. I think this family lived in 1860 Knox Co., Ky., but I’m still working to confirm that.

May 16, 2005 at 6:54 am #14935Good Day Bill
WOW! again Thank you for your efforts toward finding my people.
We have traveled from Alaska to Indiana so I can try to track down my fathers people and I didn’t have much to go on but you have changed all that. 7000 miles later, thanks to you, I went yesterday to the Roachdale graveyard and got to hug my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather.
Again Thank you so much!

May 16, 2005 at 6:54 am #14939Marion’s family moved to Roachdale, Putnam Co., too, so William J. Dickerson may have died in Montgomery or Putnam Co’s.
1900
Putnam Co., Ind Census; Dist 74 Franklin Twp, Roachdale (town); 2 June; Sheet 2B; visit 41:
DICKERSON, Tempa; Head, W, f, Aug 1845; 54; Widowed, 6 children, 5 living; NC, NC, NC. Income from Ins.

………………., Frank; son, Jan 1866, 34; W’d. Ind, Va, NC.
………………., Raymond; grandson; Oct 1896, 3; Ind, Ind, Va.
Benjamin “Frank” Dickerson m’d Nancy McFall in Putnam Co., but there is no date on the Marr. Index I have. She must have died young.
Occupations:
Andrew J., Day Laborer.
Henry, Salesman – Groceries.
Frank, Section Hand (on the Railroad?)
I haven’t found any of the above in 1910.
Marion’s son John W., and Marion’s brother Andrew J., may have moved to Delaware Co (Muncie), but I’m having difficulty proving that it is them specifically, on the 1930 census.
The Beckleheimers have proven to be more interesting than I at first thought they would be. They are not recent immigrants, but go back thru Pulaski and Montgomery Co., Va in the early 1800s and back into New Jersey in the 1700s.
Sarah E. Beckleheimer Dickerson’s mother was
Elizabeth J. AKERS, b. May 22, 1834, no date of death on her gravestone in Roachdale Cemetery (at least not on that index)., “w/o John”.
Elizabeth AKERS m’d John Beckleheimer on 31 March 1851 in Pulaski Co., Va.
John, b. 26 Oct 1831 Montgomery Co., Va; d. 26 Jun 1901 in Putnam Co., Ind., and is buried in the Roachdale Cem., too.
John’s parents (1850 Pulaski Co., Va census):
John Beckleheimer (Sr.), b.abt. 1801 Tazewell Co., Va; d. aft. 1870 in Putnam Co., Ind. , marr’d 23 Mar 1822 in Montgomery Co., Va., (marr. index), Catherine B. REDPATH, “dau of James”, b.abt. 1804 Montgomery Co., Va., d. aft 1870 in Putnam Co., Ind.
John Sr. moved to Putnam Co., Ind during the 1850s.
[(James Redpath (Jr), b.abt. 1768 Montgomery (probably) Co., Va. and his wife Elizabeth, both 82 yrs old, and dau Christela, 40, are on the 1850 Pulaski Co., Va Census, p.67.
In 1830 Montgomery Co., Va, Blacksburg Census, p.88, are a James Redpath (Sr.), b.abt. 1740s (prob. father of James b.1768), two of his sons: Elanson (actually Alanson), b.1800-1809; and John, b.1790-1799, but these could be sons of James Jr – don’t know yet for sure.
Alanson Redpath m’d Rebecca KELSEY (dau of Thomas) on 26 Oct 1822 in Montgmy Co., Va. (marr. index.)
John Redpath m’d Mary Polly COX on 30 Mar 1814 in Montgmy Co., Va. (marr. index)
The Alanson Redpath, b.abt. 1825 Va (1850 Iowa Census), (m’d Mary E. Chadwick on 1 May 1845) and John Redpath, b. 5 Aug 1823 Montgomery Co., Va., d. 31 Aug 1850 Mahaska Co., Iowa, (m’d Mariah Chadwick on 3 Aug 1843) who both went to Mahaska Co., Iowa are the sons of the elder Alanson or John, and that family’s researcher has these two sets of names confused with each other.]
John Beckleheimer Sr.’s line continues, per other researchers:
He was the son of
Abraham (Abram) Beckleheimer (Jr), b.1772 Franklin/Henry Co., Va; d. 25 May 1822 Montgomery Co., Va; marr’d on 28 Oct 1790 Franklin Co., Va., Mary KINGERY, her dates unknown.
Abraham’s parents:
Abraham Beckelhimer Sr., b.abt. 1743, d. ?; m’d Christenah, b.abt. 1734 (?).
Abraham Sr’s parents:
Johan George Beckelhymer, b. abt. 1712 (don’t know where); d.bef. 1790 Huntertown Co., NJ. Elected Elder in 1733 of the Amwell Church of the Brethern. M’d 3 (?) times:
1) Unknown (?)
2) Elizabeth Becker on 29 July 1753.
3) Catherine _?_, on 7 June 1756.

Indiana Deaths, Vital Records:
City Health Office, Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., Ind.
Book H-35, page 116, within the series produced by the Indiana Works Progress Administration:
Date: Jul 03, 1911 (could be the date it was filed)
Location: Ladoga.
Tempa Dickerson
Age: 65 Yr.
Sex: Female.
Color: W
………………………
a second source, also from the City Health Office, Crawfordsville, but Book H-30, page 46, lists date of Jun 12, 1911, which may be the actual date of death, with all other info being the same as the first source.
………………………
Tempe/Tempy/Tempa Floyd, was born in Randolph Co., NC.
Parents: Miles & Margaret “Polly” Floyd. I think she came to Montgomery Co., Ind in about 1865 with her older brother (may be a cousin) Benjamin F. Floyd and his wife Jane and kids. They are all in Randolph Co NC in 1860. Miles Floyd’s (b.abt.1810 NC) parents are
Alsey Floyd, b.abt 1784 NC, and Temperance (“Tempy”) HILL.
I’ll post the backup doc info later.

May 16, 2005 at 6:54 am #14947Good Evening Bill
You are phenominal.
A cousin here in Indiana (Ijust found him…he is 84…just in time I think) says that he thinks that my Grandfather Marion Dickerson hung himself in Danville Illinois but I have not been able to track that on the web so I am going there in a couple of days to search records and then to Noblesville to meet this cousin face-to-face.
Do you know if there are any lists of names or rolls of the Blackfoot in Virginia and North Carolina?
May 16, 2005 at 6:54 am #14949There are no “Rolls” in that context.
There is a thread on saponitown, I think it’s under “saponi names” – use the “search” button on the upper right.
Most of the “non-community” names are not on that list.
