Hello Everyone, my name is Lisa. I’m from Roxboro, NC. For those who don’t know it’s in Person county and very close to the NC/Va border.
My father, Robert Jordan Algie Davis, was from Virginia and I do not know a lot about his family. He was born in Halifax Virginia on July 13, 1936 to Giles Davis and Gracie Thomas Davis. He has one sister, Ellen Davis Dickerson Dean, also may be known as Helen Dean. Last known whereabouts for Ellen was Bullock, NC.
We lost my father in 1989. His mother died in 1995. Unsure of when his father died but we think it was around my father’s eight birthday which would have been 1944.
We think that our grandfather, Giles Davis was born in Carroll Country Virginia.
We do not know where our grandmother, Gracie Thomas Davis was born.
We have reason to believe that our father and grandparents were Native American (Indians) but we don’t know enough about our heritage to be sure.
Recently I had someone to tell me about a tribe called Two Sons. Also I had someone tell me that if my daddy was a Davis from Virginia then they were almost 100% sure he was an Indian. I have pictures of my father, grandmother, and aunt if anyone would like to see them.
Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. It would be great to see your pictures. I have a Davis ancestor way back, so I can’t help you with your line.

The links worked fine. I assume one picture is you, and the other picture of the man is your dad and you are the baby. Cute kid.
Welcome Lisa….. glad to see you made it here. We got all those flags put out Memorial day and got 45 more from wallyworld and put all those out too.
Post what names and dates you have on the genealogy forum and we’ll see what we can find. Also use the search feature to see what’s already here on the Davis surname.

Yes, that was a picture of myself and then one of me and my daddy. Thanks for the cute kid comment, wonder what happened? LOL
I think I have possibly found an address and phone number for my daddy’s sister and one of her children. I’m not sure if I want to write to them or if I want to call them. I’m going to think on it and I’ll leave a message here on how it turns out.

I was reading posts in another forum here and ran across the website http://www.familysearch.org and I believe I’ve found my grandmother on it.
I never knew my grandmother’s birthdate but the date of death below is a perfect match and she was approximately 98-99 yrs old when she died. She also was a resident in a Nursing/Rest Home in South Boston, Virginia at the time of her death.

Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here and I’ve missed it a lot. I’ve not posted because I didn’t really have any information to post but tonight is a different story and here it is…
…OMG! I could say/type that a thousand times over and it wouldn’t express enough how freakin’ happy I am at this moment. I’m happy, nervous, and totally unexplanable all at the same time. hahaha, yes I am crazy but it’s a good crazy at the moment.
I give all the glory to the Man upstairs, most of you know Him, I hope all of you know Him…God, is truly an Awesome God.
As most of you know I lived most of my life with out my dad in it. Which also means I missed out on knowing his family as well but thanks to the Grace of God I am BLESSED with a great family on my mom’s side and I am so thankful for all of them. They’ve always been there for me, supported me, loved me…possibly doubled the love because of my lack of father’s family.
I remember seeing my “grandma” when I was a little girl, I remember her long hair because she’d never had a haircut. My memories of her are few and far between. I remember when I was older, my dad took me, my brother, my sister-in-law to see my aunt and ALL her many children. It was a group meeting of strangers who were family. Was an odd situation.
In 1989, my brother and I lost our dad and I got to see his family once again at his funeral. We all exchanged phone numbers but didn’t really stay in touch. We got a phone call in ’95 to let us know that our grandmother had passed away. I went to the visitation the night before but didn’t go to her funeral the next day. She was a stranger to me. I didn’t feel like family. I didn’t feel I should be there. Once again we all lost contact with one another.
Even with all the love and caring from my Mom’s family I’ve always felt a part of me was missing. So a few years ago I began searching the Internet and I found bits and pieces but nothing definate. I found an address and phone number that I thought was my Dad’s sister but I wasn’t sure and I wouldn’t call to find out if it was her.
A week or so ago a friend and I were talking about family and such, I mentioned my aunt and my hesitations about writing a letter to the address I had found. I had all kinds of negative questions and reasons for why I shouldn’t write. This wonderful friend talked me into writing a letter and I did so.
Tonight I signed on and I had an email from a daughter-in-law of my Aunt, she gave me an email address to contact her to ask about my Aunt and she gave me two phone numbers to contact them. My heart is racing and I’m unsure of what I’m going to do but I think some day soon I’ll call just to satisfy my soul.
I hope I’ve not bored you too much but I just needed to type out my story.

Glad to hear you were able to be in touch with your dad’s family….there is no coincidences here….Creator brings those together in His time frame. Have you by any chance spoken with C.B. Davis, who lives in Person county? He has a wealth of knowledge, not sure if it connects to your Davis or not, but, might be worth a try.

I was able to contact my Aunt’s daughter in law. She informed me that my Aunt’s health is not good. They aren’t very far away so I hope that I can get a chance to re-unite with them all and maybe find out more than I already know. My Aunt has Alzheimer’s disease along with other ailments so she won’t be of help, possibly some of her children can help me.

I know the Mr. Davis that you speak of and no he is not kin to me. As far as I know I am not related to any Davis’ in Roxboro other than my brother and his sons. Thank you for offering the name. I really appreciate the help.
