Hi!
I am just starting to search through the past of my family…..what an interesting, time consuming ride! My Mother has told us for years that we are Cree Indian and my Aunt has recently told me that we also have Sioux Indian. Of course no one knows where and the side of the family that it is said to be a part of is all but disappeared. I have spent a lot of time trying to find names on that side of my family from the only 2 people I know that might remember. I am able to find German, English and French easily enough but either the Indian Ancestry is really hard to find or it simply doesn’t exist……..I am wondering if someone can give me some research tips on HOW to find Indian Ancestors?

It would be a good start on this forum to list the surnames of you, your parents, their parents, etc and some dates and locations (don’t need to get terribly specific to start with). You might connect with someone who is a “cousin.”
My surname is Stacy which I know is English and My Paternal Grandmother is a Fisher which is German. My Mother’s surname is Ulin, My Maternal Grandmother was Tack which is also German. I have been able to trace the Stacy side quite a ways back but, the Fisher side has proven difficult possibly due to immigration. On the Ulin and Tack side I have also had a difficult time I know that my mother was born in Salina, Kansas in 1946 and that they lived in various cities of Kansas when she was a young girl. I believe that both my Maternal Grandparents were born in Kansas abt. 1900. My Maternal G.grandparents surnames are Ulin (b. Kansas 1874), Turner (b. Kansas abt. 1879), Tack (b. German abt. 1868) and Connelly (b. Kansas abt 1887). GG.grandparents Ulin (b. Ohio abt. 1823), Corpron? (b. Iowa abt 1852), Turner (b. Indiana abt. 1852), Morgan (b. Missouri abt 1862), Tack (b. Germany abt. 1841), Connelly (b. Iowa 1856) and Thomas (b. Illinois 1866).
I wish I could say that I am 100% positive on all names and places but, to be honest I’m not. My Mothers memory is fading (due to health issues) and she can’t remember names and dates very well. I have been attempting research on my own through Ancestry.com, I am learning something new everyday!!
