Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Hi!!
I live in Patrick Co. VA. I have been trying to do family research. A lot of the surnames that I have a connection to are listed here. Maybe I’ll be able to find out something. The surnames i’m researching includes:
Goins, Bowman, Collins, Stevens/Stephens, Lawson, Cunningham. I have always heard that there was an Indian connection to the family but have never been able to proove it. I will be searching the boards trying to find some info on the families. If anybody has any links that might help, I’ll be glad to look at them. Thanks in advance.
Hello, and welcome, Sissy!
We could be related.
I am from Henry County. My Dad and all my grandparents are/were from Patrick County. Surnames are below, but am also related to the Bowmans.
Hey nice to meet you!! Which Collins and Bowman are you related to?
Hey Sissy.
My Collins was Joanna, d of Edward “Ned” and Hannah. They lived in both Patrick Co. and Stokes Co, NC. Hannah is said to have been a Holt. Joanna Collins md. William Bouldin. Their son G. F Bouldin md a Foley who was from the James Bowling line.
I always forget which ways the Bowmans connect & will need to dig through the big box to answer better. They married Branch and Shough, but I believe there is more than one connection. Seems like they were close enough to my paternal family to visit.
Which Collins are yours??
