Hello everyone!
I’m a new member, “Gecko” but good friends call me “Joe” 🙂 I was a US Army Paratrooper, (Infantryman), for the sum of 15 years and I am a Veteran of 3 Wars. Now Retired at 45 years old, Well 46, Tomorrows my birthday. 🙂 I live here in Melbourne, Florida. Not a bad place, If you can put the Hurricanes aside. :-))) Just a nice guy that has to much time on his hands. :-))) Haveing came accross this site, I can only say…..WOW! You have a good thing going here! So I hope you don’t mind if this mixed blooded white boy became a member. :-))) I hope to trace the origin of a family line that is tied to the Blackfoot of Kentucky (?) So if you see me posting stupid questions, Bare with me! :-))) I just hope to seek and learn as I go along. And I must say that I have learned much just by reading the things upon this site.
So if anybody just want’s to say Hello, Or tell me to go to Hell. :-))) Feel free I would love to hear from ya’ll!!

Hi Joe, I served with 5th BN 81st Arty “Airborne” 8th Division, H&S Battery 3/319th, 173rd Airborne Bde, HHB Div Arty, 82nd Airborne Div, and F Co. 19th Special Forces. I am also from Kentucky presently living in Greenup County.

Wow, I just jumped on the site to read the posts and was rather overwelmed! :-))) You have humbled me and I thank you!! For all of you to thank me for my service, I only wish to thank you for being Citizens of a Nation that allowed me to serve, Not by Draft, Or Conscrip, But by 100% Volnteer. (That includes “Tom” as well!! :-))))) ) In the years of my travels, I think to count, I have been to 34 different Countries, Some were for travel, And some were for War. I will not say this because I’m an American, But from my experiance we live in one of the finest Countries on this planet! I learned much from from this. I have found that regardless of anyone’s Creed, Color, Or Nationality we are all the same, Blood is Red! As a young man I was rather “Wayward”! :-))) Had I continued my ways who knows how I would have turned out. So I became a soldier and evolved into a man which has become very wise, But war has been known to do that to men since the dawn of time. So i’m just a big fun loving kid that will take no crap from anyone!!!

Since we are all family, Could I be cousin that you hide in the Basement?

I did 6 years myself in the Navy and went to 11 different countries and from what I have seen ours is one of the best. I would never want to live anywhere else.

Welcome to Saponitown, the mixed blood haven. ….. and, indeed, thank you for your service. I hope you dance the veteran’s dance every chance you can.
We just sent a young warrior off to his first deployment this sunday. Besides good food and about 40 good people, the men had a ceremony for him, gave him gifts and a new name. He had cut a set of his camos from basic into strips which he presented to each of us. He will dance with each of us until he returns to dance for himself.
Saponitown is about finding the truth. May you find what you seek.

Welcome to the neighborhood…and what a place it is! A place to settle in…ask questions…find answers…and just enjoy being comfortable in who you are. I, too, would like to thank you for your service…and Linda, too, for her service in the armed forces. If you have any Person county, NC things to be looked up, we will try to help you. Oh, btw, Dreaminghawk is my new hubby (9 months now).
You can be the cousin that hides in the barn, I guess…since we don’t have a basement….
