Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I would like some suggestions if at all possible because I’m not sure which way to turn with this. Thomas and Rebecca Etheridge are my 4th great grandparents. Well for years no one seen to be able to get information on Rebecca. I was scanning census records last night (my husband got me ancestry for my birthday) and on the 1860 census record of Edgecombe North Carolina Post office Tarboro( this is the county seat and in the center of the county) I find Thomas and Rebecca listed there. Thomas is listed as blind and 68 years old making him born in 1792 in NC. Rebecca is listed as 61 making her born in 1799(we have been looking more toward 1810 for years now duh) anything under her place of birth is says Halifax COunty, NC. So I have learned a little more info she was born around 1799 and in Halifax County NC. This is all I know does anyone have any suggestions of which way I should turn now?

Cuzin,
If we could ever get up with Robert Etheridge,he might could help! I remember talking to him at one of Chris H. court trials and he told me that his Tuscarora lines went through the Lucas lines. Maybe Rebecca was a Lucas.

She very well could have been but she’s a real mystery. I do know Robert Etheridge descends through from Nathan Etheridge of Nash County. Nathan appears to have been born in Indiantown in Camden County. I also descend from Nathan.
