Hi Bill,
I was doing a search for something yesterday and found some old posts of yours talking about the TRAYLOR name.
Do you recognize the name Edward TRAYLOR who m. Elizabeth PERKINSON (bef. 1731) who were both from around Dinwiddie Co, VA. I have 3 daughters for them–Mary, Pheobe, & Blanche. I only found one son, William TRAYLOR(my direct ancestor) who was born in Dinwiddie Co. VA. He married Nannie PERKINSON (relationship to his mother unknown). William died in GA. His descendants started “migrating” through the South–GA, AL, MS, TX. My direct ancestors went to East Texas where they settled. Through several generations, they married into the HAYNES and GREER lines. (It pretty much became a multi-generational family pasttime.):D
Do any of these names sound familiar?

Thank you, Bill, for your response. I’ve been working on the different family lines of my maternal grandmother and I have names, dates, and places. But, I was hoping to find out more about who they were. That is why I joined this forum. I’m looking for answers as to why they kept moving, why whole family groups followed much of the same path, why do so many of the surnames in my family appear on lists of NA names, and why did they stop moving all of a sudden? Someone on another board suggested that they were moving to “find a better life”. Although, I find it hard to believe that they couldn’t find it in some of the places where they lived along the way.
I suspect NA heritage, but I’ve never found any of my ancestors listed as anything other than white on the census. (Maybe I don’t know how to read them). Any help would be appreciated.
Karen
I’m going to try to attach a photo of my grandmother and her brother. If it doesn’t work, I’ll try with a separate posting.
