Van Meter as a First Name?

I came across a post with Van Meter as a surname. One of my family members is named Van Meter as a first name (1920 census). Just a coincidence? That’s a really strange first name to have. It could be Vanneta but it really looks like Van Meter on the census roll.

They had a penchant for strange names anyway. One of my cousins was named Monte…as in Monte Cristo. I had no idea–just thought his name was Monte. Laughed when Bill uncovered the cenus records.:)
