Clara Brown,
There is a couple ways to pronounce WHITED.
As WHIT-ed and as WHITE-ed.
The last one can result in it being written as WHITEHEAD, which has happened numerous times with this name over time and makes it difficult to find them. You will have to compare the people’s first names within family groups to assure yourself these are the same ones, but they are.
(Tom’s Creek is in Wise Co., Va.)
The following info was abstracted from the indicated census.
(the notation “Va, Va, Va” means:
1st “Va” is where that person was born.
2nd “Va” is where that person’s father was born.
3rd “Va” is where that person’s mother was born.)

I “think” Rinda Jane’s maiden name was DAVIS, dau of Elihu Davis b.abt 1842 Va, and Mary J. _?_, b.abt 1843 Va., and lived in 1880 Tazewell Co., Va but have no definite proof of her maiden name.)
