I’m seeking any information concerning the Whitehead/whitted & Kirk families especially any information concerning Thomas Whitehead and Sarah Kirk who were married in the early 1800’s in Orange County, N.C
I think there may have been some Whitehead families living in the Pleasant Grove/Little Texas area.
I believe that Thomas Whitehead and Sarah Kirk moved to Buncombe Co. N.C., and later on to Tennessee.
It seems like the Whitehead family had a English name and another name by which they were called ( nickname ? )
examples like :
James ( Tiger ) Whitehead
James ( Wolf ) Whitehead
Thomas ( Whispering Tom ) Whitehead
any information would be greatly appreciated.

On the 1850 Carter Co., Tn census, Thomas Whitehead is listed as “Sr” and 80 years old, and Sarah is 70 y/o. Next door and continuing on, are Larkin, John and James Whitehead’s families.
Are these yours?
On the 1810 Orange Co., NC census, there is a Thomas Sr and a Thomas Jr.
On the Orange Co Marr records are two Thomas Whitted marriages, one on 14 Dec 1807 to Peggy Lashley; one on 4 Sep 1813 to Sarah Kirk. There is a Lasley and a Kirk household within several houses of Thomas Jr on the 1820 census.

Yes the Thomas and Sarah listed in the Orange County, N.C. 1810 census, and the 1850 Carter county Tn census are indeed my ancestors.
It appears that they left Orange Co N.C., and went to Carter County Tn.
Thomas & Sarah Whitehead had a number of children that included Larkin and others.
Do you know if while in Orange County N.C. they were in the Pleasant Grove community ?
Thanks for you help….
