This was already posted in the welcome forum.
Think I’m doing this right Dreaminghawk?
Any info on this Jones or Whitfield line possibly from Buncombe county NC or Cocke county TN
“I have been looking into and collecting family information for about 10 years and am wondering if there are indians in our family because of old photographs, orphans, and migrational history. My ggg grandfather on my paternal side in the Jones family and his brother were orphans supposedly born in North Carolina. We don’t know exactly where. They came out to the Platte area sometime in the mid to late 1820’s. It is rumored that they came out on an orphan train, but I know this is long before there were orphan trains. The in-laws were Potters from Cocke county Tennessee and had migrated from eastern North Carolina or maybe Virginia. They had Turners and Banks in their family. And they had written in a bible the names of a Gilliam family who had also come out from Cocke county TN. A cousin did a DNA test and found that we had matches with Jones families that were in that area of TN and Jones families from Albermarle county VA that later migrated to Granville county NC. Also there are Silvers in my family from Pulaski county KY that came out west around 1838. From photographs, clearly my gg grandfather and my g grandmother are dark non-Caucasian looking people. Curious if they might have african/indian ancestry….possibly even Saponi?”
Thank you
Chris Jones
March 8, 2015 at 1:56 am #37113My ggg grandfather Leander Whitfield Jones is the furthest back that we have recorded in our family history. He was born in North Carolina and migrated to the Platte area of Missouri with his brother Marvel Monteville as orphans. The story is that several brothers were left behind. We don’t know where they were born in North Carolina. My female cousin told me that her DNA test linked with some of the descendants of Joshua Jones in the Buncombe county area. ….Also Robert Jones jr. who was from Albemarle VA.? and lived in Granville county NC?
Leander Whitfield married Sarah Potter in clay county Missouri then later her sister Elizabeth when Sarah died. Sarah and Elizabeth’s father was Wilson Potter was from Cocke or Greene county TN and was married into Joseph Turners family in Haywood county NC.
I’ll bring this info over here too.
Ambrose Jones b. 1717 and Catherine Collins b.1718 had a son James b. 1739 married Amey Humphries b. abt 1740 had son Robert b. 1765 married Martha Wade. Are these dates any where near the right dates to be your Robert? They were in Albemarle, VA

Joshua Jones was born in Albermarle VA in 1740. My cousin who did the test says we have a close match with his descendants. She thinks he had a brother that we could be descended from. The only other thing she told me was that this Joshua was descended somehow from a Robert Jones and possibly through a Robert Jr. of Albermarle Va. Seems like your dates could line up. I will email her and ask for more info. and dates. It may take a while for her to respond but I will re-post any relevant info.
Thanks again
March 8, 2015 at 1:56 am #37117for ages God told me every way but loose that he wanted me to remember stuff I didn’t want to remember..
so when I did my mtdna to see if we matched with other paint clan ladies because I had decided to what he said…
I have at least two Turners that are pretty close matches to mine and I know those names are related to my grandma’s family someplace. a few of the other names that are showing up are names I was sure of also. but for now I will just talk about the Turners.
right now I am waiting for the announcement of what Lord Pakals mtdna is .
they did his mtdna and have not , not told anyone what it was! His grandmother Yoliknal.. Yoli-k(a)na(I) ( this is not her name but her two clans , so I don’t know what her real name is ) she is Queen of Palenque . Yollie and Ollie and Yoli is all the same clan… so we wait for Pakal’s mtdna….
so for clues of what it might be is how they by chance they just found very well mineralized a finger bone of a youth in siberia that is
“ancestors of the native americans” and is related to
“u5”. seems they had to get their lies and their science all in a new line /lie.. so I guess according to them U5 is not longer “european” but is Siberian.. rotf.. and if you believe all that..
so we wait to see if all those Turners and Pembertons and Thorns and I think we are around 15 who are kind of close are wating to see if we are in anyway related to the founder of the Mayans.
for ” princess” stories that some grandma have of a “cherokee and blackfoot” ladies . see the Shoeboots thread for the links to other chiefs and Ollies (or maybe even Dolly’s link, she was for sure saponi and was born in SC also ) to Caftor/ Cofita-chigui where there lots of giants and midgets(= ‘little people’) this is as best I can find proof of it .
here is how hopeful I am that I got this figured out . like I said before here is an “Adams” was from PA . and my nephew . and like animals breed breed pretty true . male lines breed breed pretty true . except colors can change depending on the mothers fathers lines colors etc .
so here is my nephew and Lord Pakal. do they look like they are in the same male clan and female clan meaning they could be brothers? not identical but brothers ? because genetically
they should be close .
the nephew head is not shaped so there is some differences. and his moms head is also not shaped so there is differences.
well like he only has 5 fingers. 😛
so what you think ?
so if your Turners are related to the Turners I think are related to me. so we wait For Pakal’s mtdna for confirmation.
so keep an eye out for the announcement of Pakals mtdna and we will assume they won’t lie about it … maybe. I suspect they are waiting for old men with old careers who wrote old school books to die off first maybe ? so If Pakal’s mtdna is come back as U5/ U5b2 or comes back as a haplogroup B with some U5 transitions like 228 A and 270 like are found now in the cherokee , FYI which there are these mutation matches in U5 and in B in Mexico and Brazil and in the cherokee and in Caribbean. and if humanity and the world isn’t
“billions of years old ” like the religion of anti-religion says and since they can’t tell you why mtdna even mutates yet but they have it all timed out to fit in their boxes of hundreds of thousands of years . Then these could be relatives from Pakals age and from the collapse of the lands of the Mediterranean at the bronze age /or aka the Turtle eyeland event or AKA and maybe the RE-water story of the Chickasaw or before that event .
there is a old water stories where a family lives through it and then a re water story where just one man lives through it and thus all female dna from that tribe comes from that side on the west coast ….. but that mans personal line came from this side and no one can know where the people that man married into becomes the tribes we call Chickasaw and Choctaw and where their female lines came from and in what age .
and we won’t even talk about the dna of pearl divers and railroad workers turned miners at china lake and Russian fur traders and rice slaves and who knows what else
science, intellectualism ( and that is a joke ) and academia and all these federally funded agendas.. agendas and all it’s own magic that tells it just what it wants to hear..
and used all that kind of smart.. to tell us who we are and where we came from. they wanted to find Asians so they have found Asians. but to tell people who they are is a right they haven’t earned.
the profoundly sad part here is this . sea people buried their dead at sea. and there was no sea and the land drained to the Atlantic after that they burned them on a scaffold/ this is like a boat or let birds pick their loved one . so no amount of digging is going to find
“real native americans” those that were here before the turtle island event. just how firkin nuts can they get.
ok so now except for the Kings in the mounds they already dug them up and their “scientist” had ground them up for belly ache powders or whatever ! everyone else was buried at sea!! and their bones are now out in the Atlantic just like the billions of tons of mammoth bones are.
someone has to tell them to leave the dead alone, they are just stupid and nuts. they are nuts and volts kinds of insane.
so I guess now we wait for some old
priest of their to die before the
ground breaking news…. and all their new books at just 29.99……. you might want to find out if and how you relate to the turners who have tested and matched kind of close to mine.
March 8, 2015 at 1:56 am #37120Chris, what do you know about your Moore line? The Abraham Moore lines in Person co,NC are closely tied to the Whitfield and Jones lines.

I believe our Moores are from Kent county Maryland starting in the middle of the 1600’s. They end up in Harrison county Kentucky during the revolutionary period. I’m sure they spent time in VA. I will look at my notes later and let you know some more specifics. The Moores are on the Silvers/Horton side of the family…probably not Person county,NC.
