I am beginning to wonder if one will ever nail these families down to a particular tribe. There are some good references such as Heinegg, Spurlock Elder, and Carlson, but none of them have solidified my Gibson line’s bloodline. I have no doubt as to their NDN blood as the traits are very apparent even today as these mixed bloods lived together and intermarried, thus carrying on the traits. Richard Allen Carlson’s dissertation refers to the Collins, Gibson’s and other families of Floyd Co. KY as Saponi. The above references are excellent resources.
