I check everything 3 or 4 times before I post, but inevitably errors will find their way on to the forum. So far these are mostly minor spelling errors, or I’m adding an alternative pronunciation. If its anything major, I’ll post here to let you know.
For instance, post number 15 on the Tutelo vocabulary thread “more numbers”.
101 — ukinii nooñsaa aginooñsaa “one being on one hundred”- this is wrong.
‘agi’ is only used for teens and tens, so:
ukinii nooñsaa aginooñsaa means 111.
ukinii nooñsaa nooñsaa means 101.
Are you able to go into your posts and edit yet? I changed your permissions so you could, or at least, I think I did.
Yes, thanks for doing that, I have edited several posted already. Its amazing how many errors pop out as soon as you push “submit reply”.
For anyone making copies of the language stuff I’ve posted in the past year, you may want to check back from time to time. I’ve been making little changes here and there, even to old posts.
My formal education in linguists doesn’t extend beyond the 8th grade English grammar I trudged through long ago, so I guarantee I’ll be making changes to stuff as I learn more about Tutelo and Siouan languages. I’m sure I pointed this out in a previous post, but if anyone familiar with Siouan languages or linguistics in general wants to suggest or correct something, I’m all ears. Feel free to send me personal messages if you like.
