May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31488Hey Roca, I’m planning to be at Shenandoah, also. Hoping to camp somewhere near it.
Probably will go to Mebane, too. Noticed in the flyer that dancing is “by invitation only”. Has it always been that way?
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31492We would love to go to Shenandoah Valley…not sure with the budget yet. Nottoway is the following weekend, I think. So we will have to pick and choose depending on gas prices.
I can’t get the PDF flyer to download, but, the flyer I have in my notebook doesn’t state that. Usually if you are in proper regalia, I don’t think there would be a problem, but you can always check with the emcee or arena director. Ken and I both hope to dance.

May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31500Thanks, Becky. So you and Ken are going to Mebane? Cool. Cindi and Timmy are planning to go, too.

No, it hasn’t always been that way.

The flyer says that the time for Friday is 5-9 p.m. And Saturday is 10-9. That is running a lot longer than usual, I think.
I had an email from Forest that those regular dancers dressed in regalia will not have a problem dancing. So that should answer your question, eh?
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31524Yah, thanks Becky, ma’am.
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31704Just a side note…I had mentioned that Nottoway was the last weekend in June. Actually, it will be held in September this year. Will post more on that as it nears.

I guess you’re referring to the Virginia Nottoway.
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31716Yes, I was referring to the Nottoway Indians of Virginia, who had a pow wow last year in June. The Cheroenhaka pow wow is listed in the July pow wows.

May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31723Bringing this forward since the Burlington, NC pow wow is this weekend. Should be beautiful weather, but, do remember that it is out in the open with no shade. Also, plan to stay hydrated as well. Saw a dancer pass out last year due to the heat. We will have our canopy up for any Saponitown folks that want to share our shade. In fact, we met quite a wonderful young lady last year at this pow wow…..she had a “B” on her hat…..and they shared our shade and a lot of good memories…..right, Sis?
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31724Right, Ma. hahahahaha
Hard to believe that was only a year ago, huh?
May 12, 2008 at 3:37 pm #31725And what a year it has been…. I thank Creator for causing our paths to cross again in this life cycle.
