That concerns all Saponi descendants.
December 9, 2008 at 9:24 am #32820I’d like to know who wrote that. Around here, it is against the law to dig up any of the mounds, as it would be to dig up anyone from a grave-yard. The Iroquois like to claim everything, even driving the Shawnee from Ohio…which would have been a great military task to have accomplished, but never happened…just a line of bull from the Iroquois again.
Of course Canada may have different laws, or allowed the digging up of a mound for DNA testing. But DNA testing has become a joke among the native people for being too inconsitant. Interesting article that does hold some truths, but out in left field as far as the moundbuilder statements go.
December 9, 2008 at 9:24 am #32827I found some flaws in it also……but still a interesting article.
The big flaw I saw in it was it said there was no algonkians in the SE….there is also a map on that which shows the SE had no algonkians…which is very wrong since the first maps of americaare of the Algonkians. John White’s maps come to mind.
I’m kinda confused about the Iroqious language thing though…because that article said Iroqious was a Hokan-Siouan language? That part cofused me.
One time I read that the Nahutl language (if I spelled it right) of the Aztec was a Hokan-Siouan language also. I know the Aztec migrated to Veracruz central mexico from the Calirfonia region…and I know there was some talk before about there was some Siouan speaking tribe in California….hokan-siouan……but anyway I never really fully researched that stuff.
I know the mound builders in the USA pretty much all came from Cahokia and that is probally where the Siouan and iroqious wars began.
December 9, 2008 at 9:24 am #33003I just forwarded this link to my friend’s father who is Mohawk living just outside of the Onondaga Rez in Nedrow NY. I’m interested to see his response as well as hers. Evidently, there is alot more stink going on up there than we all realize. There are numerous suits that are filed against the state of NY, quite a bit of upheaval in the Oneida and now this.
