Hi,
My mothers family is Redman out of Virginia. When she grew up, she was very dark, as some of her siblings, and others took to her mother out of the Amish who were blue eyed and fair Swiss people.
She once asked her mother who her real father was, because she was so dark, and her mother was not very happy to say the least.
The Redman line is this:
My mothers grandmother:
Carrie Ella Redman b. IN 1869 Lakeville, IN married Wm Sherman Marks
Her parents
John Redman b. 1847 PA married Almira Bennett b. 1848 OH
His father was born in Virginia and his mother Pennsylvania.
Is there anyone else here with Redman families from Virgina?

May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33814Hi Kamama, This is what I have in my family tree on Ancestry.com. I don’t know if it is relative to you, but I have found that sometimes female ancestors will name their off~spring using a ancestors surname as either a first or middle name. Thought I’d show you this, in case we have family ties. Greydove:)

May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33889Hey Greydove!!
My father wants to get my mothers DNA done next. We are kinda wondering about her family as well.
Do you all make it thorugh the storms ok? I thought about you done there, but the worst was east to you. It got a little scary up here.
May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33899Kamama, did Greydove’s line seem familiar to you?
Redman/Redmon(d) in Stafford CO, VA connects to Potowomack (aka Potomac) tribe.
I connect via the Foleys, who wandered down to Patrick & Henry Counties (formerly western Pittsylvania), where the Redman surname is also found, along with Bryant… names inter-related in Stafford.
May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33900I will put the Redman family tree on here later tonight, of what I have. 🙂
May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33904Hi Kamama, I’m Bee’s cousin. We connect through the Bowling and Foley family. there is an article on Ancestry.com about the Foley connection to the Patawomeck Indian tribe. “Martha Bryant ca 1672 married a Thomas Foley. Martha is the daughter of an unknown male Bryant and Keziah Arroyah, daughter of Wahanganoche of the Patawomeck Indian Tribe of Virgina.” This is a quote from the ancestry.com article. I show the unknown male was Richard Bryant, but she also shows having a brother by that name, so I’m not sure.
By the way Welcome to SaponiTown. Cindi

May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33921I just found more genealogy that I forgot I had:
from me
to gradnfather Wm Edward Marks
to his mother Carrie Ella Redman
to her father John Redman married to Almira Bennett
to his father
Taylor Redman b. abt 1795 PA
married to
Jane b. 1820 PA
Taylor- son of
Thomas Redman
married
Elizabeth
-1820 census Fayette PA- Thomas
-1830 census Mercer Co. PA, Coolspring Twp.
Thomas “free persons of color”
-1840 census Mercer Co, Springfield Twp.
Isaac Redman and Thomas Redman
-1850 census Mercer County, Findley
Thomas-laborer Race-Mulatto
Elizabeth-Race Mulatto
Greg Stowe
Mary (Redman) Stowe
Ann,Henry,Eleanor,Cunningham and Margaret Stowe -Mullato
They possible came from Virginia before that.????
I also have a web site where they are doing Redman DNA I guess
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/redmond
I have not checked into that.
*****All that information is what someone sent me******
But in the census from John and Almira (Bennett) Redman (my gg grasnpanrets), John says Virginia.
Its hard looking up Redman/Redmond because they changed their last names. Beeleaf, Kira and Greydove, in your family tree, its the same with mine.
Look at it and tell me what you’all think.

May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #33932Have a safe trip.
May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #34003I am back from a hard trip. The car fell apart in Nebraska, and limped the rest of the way home. My husband had the flu when I got home, and I got that too.
Now I am ready to get back to the Redman family genealogy.
Hope everyone is doing good.
May 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #34004Redman family Tree-
I am trying to connect what I have with what ever else you all might have in your tree.
My geat grandmother was
Carrie Ella Redman b. Lakeville IN 1869 d. 1917
married to
William Sherman Marks
~~ Her Folks were~~
John Redman b. 1846 PA died Indiana
married to
Almira Bennett b. 1826 OH died 1917
~~Johns Folks~~
I can not find out who they were,
But on the census they were from Virginia.
Hopefully I can link into someones Redman line.
I believe on the census’s (I can’t remember) ether there were a lot of Johns from Virginia or the census back than did not have the family names- just head of households.
I will keep looking trying to find his folks, and keep trying to feel better.
