Linda, you and others have proven to be good friends. I know when it’s time to quit.
I try always to speak from my heart, and know sometimes I say things that aren’t popular — but I have always said what was on my heart nonetheless, and I have been honest. I really try to treat everyone the same, be they a penniless street person or an arrogant big headed fella — I coldn’t live with myself any other way. 🙂
Well, everything that gets born later passes on, and that’s how it oughta be. I’ve said too much here probably. 🙂
Thanks to everyone for all the help. It is my sincere hope that somethings I’ve said have been helpful to others.
But it’s time for me to move on, and let others learn what I’ve learned. I don’t wanna keep others away by what I say. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go to the East Coast — probably not — but I would like to. If anyone here ever comes to Oklahoma, feel free to e-mail me at vhawkins@pacer.com, and I’ll come a runnin’ ! 🙂
Til then, I’m retirin’ from this research. Maybe I can talk a relative into pickin’ up where I am quittin.’

can`t say I blame you for stopping ,you brought alot of character and good research to the forum.I have been researching my family {on my dads side } on and off now for close to 27 years.it gets to be old @#%% sometimes,and I have to take a break.

I’m very surprised to hear this. I had no sense of anyone “staying away” because of anything you’d said. I’ve come to rely on your involvement here and feel you add a lot of good thinking and discernment. What can I say, other than that I hope you’ll change your mind.
I will second that, Vance. Please reconsider leaving us. I always make use of your information even if I do not reply. I always will take a bit of time to make use of your information. Right now you have me embarked on Eckert’s 4-book series to find out who these Cherokee Chiefs are that you talk about. And I keep looking for a link to Christopher Gist with my people, since they originated in the same location. I made use of all that information. And, BTW, some of my folks ended up in southern Illinois; I just don’t know much about that line. Are you connected with any Rhodes? Some of them are in the same cemetery near my ggggrandmother who was Blackfoot.
