The two-week long, annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival, on the national Mall in Washington, this year is for the first time featuring a Canadian province. It is Alberta, and one program segment on the Northern Lights Stage at 3:00 PM every afternoon this week (June 30-July 4) — but not next week — is called “Blackfoot Medicine Speaks.” I don’t know anything else about it. The Washington Post this AM (July 1) has a teaser saying you can participate in a Blackfoot Friendship Dance, and has a small photo of someone in fancy dance regalia. But when you look for the story on p. C9, as instructed, it isn’t there. (Maybe some editions have the story, but mine didn’t.)
