In a different thread http://www.saponitown.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2660 the subject arose about Todd and Allen family connections in Kentucky. Here’s one connection between Todds and Allens with the Henderson family tossed in for good measure. In fact, the Hendersons and Allens intermarried, a daughter of this union marrying into my Todd line.
My previous thread about the Holland family traced the Hollands to the marriage of Addie Foster and Thomas McClellan Todd in Heltonville, Lawrence County, Indiana, 20 October 1888.
Thomas McClellan Todd was born 12 Oct 1864 in Heltonville, the son of William Henry Todd and Julia Ann Henderson.
William Henry Todd, born 9 Nov 1837, was the son of Thomas Todd and Sallie Helton. The Helton line is interesting and deserves its own thread in the future. William married Julia Ann Henderson 21 Oct 1858 in Lawrence County, IN.
Thomas Todd, born 11 Oct 1814, was the son of George Todd and Sarah (Sallie) Brooks.
George Todd was born 1781 and was the son of Andrew Todd and Elizabeth Seip or Sipes.
Back to the parents of Thomas McClellan Todd…
Julia Ann Henderson was born 12 Oct 1839, the daughter of Tyre Henderson and Leanah Allen, I believe in Lawrence County, Indiana.
Tyre Henderson was born 15 Aug 1809 in Madison County, Kentucky, the son of Jeremiah Henderson and Hannah Hickman. He married Leanah Allen 23 Oct 1829 probably in Lawrence County, IN.
Jeremiah Henderson, born circa 1774 in Virginia, allegedly related to the Henderson family of the Transylvania Purchase. Jeremiah married Hannah Hickman 5 April 1799 in Greene County, Tennessee.
Hannah Hickman, born 29 May 1781, the daughter of Joseph Hickman (born Surry County, NC) and Margaret Jenkins, born 19 Sept 1780 in Prince George County, MD.
Leanah Allen, born 10 March 1813 in Kentucky, was the daughter of James or John Allen and Ruth Henderson. Her sister married Julianna marreied Hiram Henderson, an older brother of Tyre Henderson.
Ruth Henderson, born circa 1788 in what Harrison County in what is now West Virginia, was the daughter David Henderson and perhaps Ingra Kittle.

I tried to search a bit for the Allen and Henderson connection. One site showed J Allen..big help..haha..
Anyway, one site showed James Allen and Ruth Henderson going back to eventually, Samuel Allen of New Kent co VA. I have no idea if that is right..but there were several Allen brothers early in New Kent so there could be a cousin connection. Saj

I dunno if that connection to Samuel Allen is correct either. The research I’ve done wasn’t really verifiable beyond what I noted above, although new info could easily have been found by someone. That is a really well researched line, the Todds and Hendersons, I mean. But the Allens tying in with your group in New Kent wouldn’t surprise me.
Been reading some of your older posts on the Allens. You’ve done a LOT of research.
The Kentucky Todds…DNA studies show that my group, which had spent some time in Tazewell County, VA, is closely related to the Mary Todd Lincoln line. We just don’t know the actual connection. Colonel John Todd, who spent some time at Boonesborough and was the ill fated militia comander at Blue Licks, was part of the documented ancestry of Mary Todd Lincoln.
Also, Richard Henderson of the Transylvania Company who sold the land to Daniel Boone is alleged to be related to the Jeremiah Henderson family. No proof. But those alleged connections explain why those Todds and Hendersons are popularly researched.
There were a few Allens at Boonesborough also, John, Richard and Thomas. Have you seen any of the settler lists from there? One list is here:
