If you are ever in NC on the first Sunday of the month, I would encourage you to take one of Tom’s hikes. They are both fun and informative. He will be hiking in our county in April….walking from where Stephen Moore built his little community down to the river. Shirley, we took you past this place and showed you the mountain…and then turned and went down the road to show you where the river ran right beside the road. This river was canoe friendly at the time.
We took the hike in Hillsborough and it was a great afternoon…and a wonderful feeling to experience where our ancestors had walked at one time.
Tom has been very instrumental in saving these old trading paths along with the mills, fords, and other historical structures.

We’re on the Davidson County side, within walking distance (if you’re in good shape) of 2 of the secondaries. Did not realize that the Yadkin used to be called the Sapona River. Also hadn’t noticed the Sapona Country Club (apparently where village used to be) about 20-30 miles sw of us.

Becky, I do remember…I would love to tag along with Tom sometime when we are in the area.
