Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Chatham County is supposed to have been the southern part of Granville County, so this would put him in the right area…

1. WILLIAM JULIUS2 RIDDLE, SR. (JOHN1) was born Abt. 1708 in Scotland, and died Abt. 1770 in Orange or Chatham County, NC. He married NANCY ELIZABETH MINTER Abt. 1740 in Caroline, Lunenburg Co., Va, daughter of ANTHONY SR. and ELIZABETH. She was born Abt. 1713 in Caroline Co., Va.,, and died Abt. 1787 in Chatham County, NC.
Children of WILLIAM RIDDLE and NANCY MINTER are:
2. i. JOHN3 RIDDLE, SR., b. 1751, Caroline County, Virginia; d. December 17, 1821, Chatham County, NC.
ii. WILLIAM RIDDLE, b. March 13, 1745/46.
iii. JAMES BRADLEY RIDDLE, b. 1748.
iv. CAPT. RICHARD RIDDLE, b. 1749.
v. THOMAS RIDDLE, b. Abt. 1750.
vi. JULIUS RIDDLE, JR., b. 1754.
3. vii. CAPT. CATO RIDDLE, b. March 10, 1755, Chatham County, NC; d. Abt. 1823, Chatham County, NC.
I don’t believe this is my William Riddle, but it does explain why there was a Julius Riddle who was sometimes referred to as William…:)
