My maternal ggrandfather was killed at a young age and is supposed to be NA and from Caswell Co. NC. I was thinking he might be of Ocaneechi decent. I was wondering if anyone might have a list of Ocaneechi family names?
I don’t know about your Great Grandfather – what was his name – but I do have a Nancy Chaney who married Phillip G. Williams in VA who was supposed to be of NA descent. Phillip and Nancy Chaney Williams moved to Fannin Co., TX in abt. 1858. Phillip is buried there. He drowned while crossing a swollen creek on his horse. The interesting thing about that is that he raced horses and owned a famous breed back in VA.
