Bill, I have spent most of the day trying to find Thomas Hart Barnes and family… They got counted somewhere else. I have a theory. If Thomas E. was his father, 1880 was the year he died. I suppose Thomas E and Elizabeth could have been living with a daughter and son-in-law when he died and the whole family was gathered there to bury him… Wouldn’t they have been counted where they were found? Well, it’s a ‘theory’!!! I’ll explore it, I guess.

February 19, 2007 at 9:02 pm #25213The Blackwells of Granville co NC,
There was a Blackwell Neck in New Kent co Va? From my notes,
Wm. Blackwell born circa 1720 Blackwell’s Neck. Son John Blackwell Sr. marries Frances Pomfret, daughter of John Pomfret and Ann Hunt. Ann Hunt born c1723, daughter of Ralph and Dinah nee Anderson Hunt. My direct line.
John Blackwell Sr. and Frances Pomfret parents of Fleming Gaines Blackwell born Apr 7 1787 married Mary Edwards in Granville. (the Demetries on that list is their son born Dec. 24 1825)
Their daughter Eliza Jane Blackwell marries David Anderson Lutrell, parents of Virginia Ann Luttrell. Is that part correct?
Further, a sister to Frances Pomfret is Ann Pomfret (have also seen Amy) married to James Smith..daughter Ann Hunt Smith born 5 Sept. 1787 Granville co NC Spouse James Webb..daughter Mary Ann Webb marries John Pomfret Blackwell. Their son John Jr marries Sally Green Wortham..one of their sons is Powhatan Blackwell. The Pomfret seems to be a first name passed on down the generations many times over. Saj

Dinah,
If you are still out there…my classmate has not responded to letters…I hope this just means she moved on after college. Anyway, after doing some research on my maternal line, it appears I have a Blackwell. Elizabeth Blackwell 25 Apr 1662
Talbot, Talbot, Maryland, USA, she married a Baynard from England. Not sure if this is your line, but thought I would throw it out here.:)
