Ive noticed the name Blevins here a lot recently so it rang some bells with me when I came across a possible variant in my lines.
Looking into Edward Blivens..(conflicting records) born abt 1665-68 in RI or Scotland and marries Isabell MacCoon b.1670 MA. His father listed as James abt 1643 England or RI and mother Bridget Oliver b. 1650 MA.
Wifes parents listed as John MacCoone b.1630 Aberdeenshire Scotland d.1705 Cambridge MA, and mother Mary Sarah Wood 1643 MA…her parents Richard b.1617 England and Sarah Francis Woodrow b.1621 MA according to Millenium file.
Throwing this out for any possible connections or corrections.
One document states there is no record to prove origin for Edward Blevins, another says he is from Wales or Scotland.
Evidently he did well for himself in RI according to records. Fought in “Queen Ann” War according to one source. There were NA allies and enemies there, it could be some took the name without the bloodline connection, or the name originated with other Blevins/Blivens intermarriages. If the tree information is true, there would be a possibility of having a bloodline through a female line. Without documentation, it all a matter of a guess as to what the truth is, and even then documents conflict so its as if you still guess as to the truth. Conflicting records drive me crazy. Never know what to believe.
Going to take the rest of my life to figure it all out it seems…and my name list just keeps growing.
Another crazy thing here, the daughter of Edward Blevins marries into Saunders (another name frequented here) who appear to originate as English colonists to RI. First generations born in US around years 1670s. Stephen Saunders b.1675 and Edward Saunders b.1672, both of RI and probably related are both in my lines according to trees. Both father a couple who marries in RI.
I have all these names and cant make any connections to save my life. I cant wait to get my DNA done. Hopefully, its more reliable than records and unverified trees. Though for me its hard to trust even that.
Its hitting me what Dreaminghawk said about going with what you feel after you’ve beat the paper trails to death. Of course, in my case its been on line records and trees.
