Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
GA-Nc Collins posted #59 some information on a Wm. Bohannon of Orange Co., VA. I have a Bohannon connection; not proven but likely a connection to this William Bohannon that GA-Nc posted?
Charlotte Neville (variants spellings; Nevil, Nevill, etc.) m. Harden Williams, the son of Ambrose Williams b. 1725-30. (Ambrose is my 6th ggfa – all info proven) Charlotte is the d/o Wm. Neville and Winifred Oldham 1758 who resided in Prince Wm & Faquier Cos. VA and Rutherford Co., NC. William Neville is the s/o Joseph Neville and Ann Bohannon. Ann fits the age range of the Wm. Bohannon complaining to the court about the Indians behavior.
Harden Williams great nephew, John Jefferson Williams m. Nancy M. Bowles 1813 in Warren Co., TN. Nancy’s mother was Frances “Fanny” Bolling a direct descendant of Pocahontas. My Williams DNA is posted on the Melungeon DNA site. Seems the Williams, Bollings, Bohannons, Neville’s and others all traveled in some of the same circles.
I have found Ambrose Williams with a land deed adjacent to the Circle Track of land in VA for the Nottaway Indian in 1749. Interesting post Mr. GA-Nc.
Thanks, Clydene
PS: By the way, my Williams DNA is very close to one of the well-known Melungeon Families of Newman Ridge. GA-Nc, can you take a look at my Williams DNA and give me your opinion as a close, distant or no match???:)
